A farmer has been killed in a wild elephant attack in Rangunia, Chittagong. The incident took place at Tripura Sundari village of Padua Union in Rangamati on Sunday morning.

The farmer's name is Kazi Abul Haishem (65).

Masum Kabir, an official of the Rangunia Range Office under the Chittagong Forest Department (South), confirmed the information to The Daily Star.

He said Kazi Abul Hashem was on his way to his land on Sunday morning. At that time a group of wild elephants were passing by from a nearby forest. An elephant snatched him up and threw him into the air. He was seriously injured. When he was rescued from the spot and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
